Reading Notes: Ancient Egyptian Myths and Stories, Part B
The reading B for the Ancient Egyptian Myths and stories section had
some really good in-depth detailed stories. I really enjoyed reading "The Book
of Thoth" and in my own story I want to incorporate some key things from both
part one and two of that story. In part one I like how the book of Thoth is hidden inside a
box that is inside another box, which that box is also inside a box and so on.
In my story I plan on having a great treasure full of gold, diamonds, and
magical objects instead of a book. Also, perhaps I will have the treasure
hidden behind numerous doors and not just any doors but doors that consist of a
maze. This way one cannot simply just open the doors to get to the treasure
they will also have to pick the right path of doors that lead them to the
treasure. In part two I like how there where many obstacles that Nefer-ka-ptah
had to conquer in order to get to the silver box that contained the book. In my
story I plan to have many booby-traps such as snakes, spiders, and scorpions
behind the doors that do not lead to the treasure. Additionally, I liked how
Nefer-ka-ptah had to be clever in order to beat the great snake. It wasn’t just
simply brute force that defeated him. My main character will also have to be clever
and use his whit in order to correctly get though the maze of doors.
