Reading Notes: Canterbury Tales, Part A
For this week I’ve chosen to read the Canterbury Tales unit. The part A of this unit has four really great stories. The story that I really liked and would want to create my own story from is “The Friar’s Tale: The Story of the Summoner.” In my story I’m going to give the characters and they way they interact a modern twist. Further, I think I’ll have the setting of my story take place in Chicago during the hight of the mafia period. My main character will work for the mafia in which he has to go collect money from the boss’s clients, any means necessary. In the original story there is also a character that is a fiend or a demon or the devil that collects souls and brings them to hell. In my story I want to use this character in a dream that my main character has. Or in other words the fiend character could be part of my main characters subconscious. In my story if my main character does not repent for his wrongdoing he too will share the same fate as the main character in the original story.
