Reading Notes: Ancient Egyptian Myths and Stories, Part A

The Egyptian Myths and stories section was really fascinating and had so many great stories to read through. The one story that stood out to me was “The Secret Name of Ra.” I liked how there was the use of magic in this story, for example when Isis turns Ra’s sweat into a venomous serpent. In my own story I perhaps could have a tear drop turn into a falcon and the character of Ra could be a female goddess instead of a god. Further, I thought this story was full of drama, deceit, and the drive for power. I plan to incorporate all of these themes into my story. My main character will be Su the son goddess and instead of Isis who was Ra’s daughter, Su will have a twin sister named Si. Si will be the antagonist who is jealous of her sister and will stop at nothing to take her place. I plan on both sisters being able to do magic but only when they are in their human form. Si will collect a teardrop from Su and come up with a potion that will turn Su into a falcon. The only way Su will be able to take her human form again will be through deceit and vengeance.
