Growth Mindset: Passing on the Concept to Others
I talked to my brother, who is a freshman in college, about growth mindset. I explained to him that while studying or doing homework he should reward himself during the process of trying to figure out the answer not just when he get's the answer right. By doing this he is participating in a growth mindset which will better prepare him for when he comes across a very difficult problem. Instead of just skipping the hardest problem he will hopefully be intrigued and take on the challenge head on. I also explained to him that the growth mindset does not just apply to school it can also apply to everyday life. Such as when he's at work or debating with his fellow students or even in his future career. After our conversation my brother was very interested in this topic and he said he wanted to do some more research. So I sent him the articles and videos that we have been exposed to in class. He then told me that he was going to start applying this method of a growth mindset and that he wished someone would have told him about this sooner.
