Reading Notes: Tibetan Folk Tales
For week nine I decided to read from the Asian unit and more
specifically the Tibetan Folk Tales. I really enjoyed these stories and the two
that stood out to me the most were, “The tiger and the Frog” and
“Covetousness.” The first thing that caught my attention in the tiger and the
Frog story was the image. The Image has an Asian feel/design and it complements
this story really well. In my own story I want to have an image that has Asian inspired
design. Further, I like how the story was structured. In my own story I want to
incorporate structure features like “Once Upon a Time” and the use of dialogue
between my characters. I like how this story used animals as the characters,
but in my story I think I’m going to make my characters human and have my story
take place in modern time. I like how the frog is very clever and even though
he is small he uses his mind to get out of sticky situations. The tiger on the
other hand is big and strong and could easily kill the frog but he is easily
manipulated.
